CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (Aug. 31, 2016) — A Kittitian residing in the United States is giving back to St. Kitts and Nevis in a unique way.
Kimarah Isaac has revealed that her “Back 2 School Photo Contest” will begin at the start of the 2016-2017 Academic School Year on Sept. 5.
While speaking with THG News, Isaac said the contest will run until Sept. 9 and produce two winners each in the primary school, high school and college categories.
“Each participant must submit their photo on the first day of school, which is next Monday. You have until Tuesday to upload the photo and for that entire week of next week, they should get people to like their photo and the photo with the most likes wins,” Isaac explained, adding that “The student must be dressed in their school uniform in the photo and they must be accompanied by someone that encourages to them to strive for success. So it can be a teacher, a parent, close family or friend.”
She also gave specific guidelines regarding the upload process, noting that the photos must be uploaded to her Facebook page.
“It’s an educational Facebook page called sociass.edu. It really represents scholarship opportunities college advising and immigration services,” she explained.
When asked about the reason for the contest, Isaac said she wants students to start the new school year with success.
“I work with students lot in terms of college so I know it’s important for them to get the right start in school so if for the first week of school I can contribute the positive energy and idea of success for them to go into the classroom and just be ready to perform, I’d be doing them a great favour,” Isaac said.
Among the attractive prizes are a work station and school supplies which have been donated by individuals and companies in St. Kitts and Nevis.
